Clear aligners are removable orthodontic appliances designed to gradually move teeth towards planned positions.
Clear aligners are removable orthodontic appliances designed to gradually move teeth towards planned positions. They offer an alternative to traditional fixed braces for certain orthodontic concerns.
At GreenTree Dental & Implant Clinic in Paignton, we provide clear aligner teeth straightening following an assessment of your teeth, gums and orthodontic needs. If you are considering braces or clear aligners, we are currently offering a free orthodontic consultation.
Treatment uses a series of custom-made, clear removable aligners, each worn for a set period before progressing to the next in the sequence. Over time, this gradual movement can help address concerns such as crowding, spacing and certain bite irregularities. Because the aligners are removable, eating and cleaning your teeth can continue much as normal, although they need to be worn for the recommended number of hours each day to work as planned.
Not every orthodontic concern is suitable for clear aligners, and some more complex cases may be better addressed with traditional fixed braces or referral to a specialist orthodontist. Your dentist will assess the position of your teeth, your bite and your oral health before discussing whether clear aligners, or an alternative approach, may be appropriate for you.
Your first appointment is a consultation to discuss your concerns and goals, followed by an examination of your teeth and gums. If treatment is suitable, digital scans or impressions are used to plan your aligner sequence. You will be shown how to wear, remove and care for your aligners, and seen periodically to review progress.
Once your teeth have reached their planned positions, your dentist will discuss retention, which commonly involves wearing a retainer to help maintain the result. Maintaining good oral hygiene throughout treatment is also important, as aligners can make plaque more likely to build up around the teeth if not cleaned thoroughly.
To find out whether clear aligners may be suitable for you, contact GreenTree Dental & Implant Clinic to book your free orthodontic consultation.
Treatment length varies depending on the complexity of the case and how consistently the aligners are worn. Your dentist will give you an estimated timescale after your assessment.
Clear aligners are effective for many orthodontic concerns but are not suitable for every case. More complex movements may be better suited to fixed braces or specialist referral.
Yes, retention is an important final step. Your dentist will discuss retainer options to help maintain your new tooth positions once active treatment is complete.
